Fruits with the most exotic looks

In our world there is so much more interesting and unusual. Sometimes, you
look and just wonder. But what if this extraordinary miracle is still tasty
and healthy?
Let's look at the fruits that are hard to find on the market or supermarket,
and that change, all representations of how food should look like.
Now, being in another country and saw on the counter of the local shop one
of these exotic fruits, you can not rack their brains over how to be
inquired, what is it and what is eaten, but sufficient to start tasting.
1. In India, Sri Lanka, Philippines and some other countries in South-East
Asia grow fruit carambola, nicknamed because of its original form the star
fruit (starfruit). Star fruit is similar to only cut across the form in
which it usually is used for decorating desserts and cocktails. Ripe
carambola, depending on variety, can have a sweet-sour or sweet taste, which
is compared with a mixture of apple, pear and citrus. The pulp of fruit,
which is under a wax crust, the structure resembles plum - it is as juicy
and slightly crispy. Star fruit is an excellent source of vitamin C and
antioxidants. As in grapefruit, the carom contains large amounts of oxalic
acid, so that people with diseased kidneys abuse fruit is not worth it.

2. Pitaya or dragon fruit grows on climbing lianoobraznyh cacti that are
common in Mexico and South America. Cultivation of this fruit are engaged in
Australia and in South-East Asia. There are several varieties of dragon
fruit, depending on the membership to which skin color can range from
reddish-pink to yellow, and flesh color from white to red. Weight pitaya can
vary from 150 grams to kilograms. Fruit has a sweetish taste, which
according to some reviews it seems presnovatym. But because of their low
calorie and high in vitamin C, phosphorus and potassium, Pitaya is useful
for people with active lifestyles. And, but you need to worry if after
eating dragon fruit with red pulp of your urine was red. This is completely
harmless phenomenon called psevdogematuriya, which passes quickly.
3. And this ball shaped fruit with thorns, whose diameter can reach 30 cm
and weighs less than 5 kg, called the durian. In South-East Asia can meet
more than three dozen varieties of durian, but are edible only 9 of them,
and they smell a little like what might be there. It is because of the
smell, resembling a mixture of turpentine and onions with cheese spoiled in
some countries, banned from the fruits of durian in public places. But,
despite the smell, yellow-red flesh of fruit is very palatable and
reminiscent of a mixture of cream, banana and egg yolk. Durian contains high
amounts of vitamins and minerals, is an aphrodisiac, but is contraindicated
in hypertensive patients, since increased blood pressure.
4. Birthplace of the mountain peach, or yangmeya, also known as the Chinese

cheese, fruit. Apparently so noni fruit is sometimes called cheese. Despite
the bitter taste and odor of noni is quite popular in Asia. Most likely,
this is connected with the fact that in the fruit contains many vitamins and
minerals. In traditional medicine, the fruit is used to treat intestinal
spasms, and urinary tract infections.
6. Rambutan is the birthplace of the Malay Archipelago. The appearance of
this red fruit with a lot of processes explains its name (rambut translated
from Indonesian - "Hair"). Rambutan fruits are small (about 3 cm in
diameter) and grow in clusters. The pulp of fruit reminiscent of jelly-like
mass yellow-white, sweet-tasting and rich in vitamin C, calcium, phosphorus
and iron.
7. Champion fruit the size of the fruit that grow on trees - jackfruit
(Indian breadfruit). Ripe fruits contained large kolichestvoimeyut
yellow-green, up to 90 cm in diameter and up to 35 kg weight. Pulp
dzhekfrukta very nutritious and taste like a fruit gum, which is not
surprising, since it contains a white sticky latex. Most jackfruit
distributed in South India.
8. Lychee (dragon eye) - one of the most popular fruit in Southeast Asia.
Under the rigid crust of pink or red fruit is hiding a small white flesh,
its texture resembles grapes and dark elongated bone, like a pupil of the
animal. The taste of sweet lychee, with a little sour. Fruit is rich in
vitamin C, is an aphrodisiac.
9. Mangosteen or mangosteen, like so many exotic fruits, mainly grown in
Southeast Asia. Under the maroon-purple crust hides white sliced flesh.
Taste of the fruit-cream is sweet and somewhat astringent. Mangosteen is
rich in vitamins B and C, phosphorus and calcium. He is a very effective
antioxidant.
10. Small gold elongated oranges come from China called kumquat. There can
be directly from the crust, and tastes of sour mandarin. Fruit can be grown
as a houseplant. Kumquat is rich in vitamins C, P and B-group. Use of
kumquat helps get rid of depression, stress, symptoms of colds and
hangovers.
11. And finally, nodding, or horned melon. Africa is the birthplace of nods,
so it is sometimes called "African cucumber. Ripe fruit has a yellow or
orange-red in color and reaches about 15 cm in length. Pulp nodding, green
and jelly which tastes like a mixture of banana and cucumber. Fruit is rich
in vitamin C, contains potassium and iron and low calories, improves the
immune system and strengthens the walls of blood vessels.
Perhaps there are people litsezrevshie and try to describe, or even more,
and the original fruit, as shown only a portion of unusual fruits, which are
